West Village Dinner

Ty and I have been trying to meet up for a dinner for a few weeks.  I sent him my list of proposed places to meet and he chose Wallse.  I have the advantage of proposing places since I'm leaving this city very soon.

I love walking through the West Village as it's one of the only places in Manhattan where I get lost and I find new places to look at.

Wallse is a really lovely restaurant.  It is cozy but I didn't feel on top of the table next to us.

I had the heirloom tomato salad as it's that season and it is what one should during this season.

Ty had the quark spaetzle with rabbit, mushrooms, corn and peas.

I thought I would keep things light since it was a hot summer evening but if I'm eating German/Austrian food, then I need to eat German/Austrian food.  I always forget what Weiner Schnitzel will look like when it comes but then I remember how good it tastes.  This was especially good since it was paired with lingonberries.

Ty was very healthy with the bass with fava beans and morels.

I said no to dessert until Ty asked about the Salzburger Nockerl.  The server explained it as meringue with huckleberries under it.  I was all about the dessert at this point.

The picture doesn't do it justice.  It was also enormous and perfect for us to share.

After my recent trip to Germany and my positive food experiences here and at Edi and the Wolf, I can say confidently that I prefer German food in this country.
