I met up with Alpha at Buvette for breakfast on a very rainy and gray morning. I was so happy to have another hot chocolate there and this time it came with a big square marshmallow.
After the long breakfast, she took me to Sockerbit a few streets over which is an enormous candy bin store full of Swedish sweets. This means that most of the candy had some form of black licorice in it and it was all delicious. I'm really sad that this was my first visit.
I know that you can buy socks anywhere but my favorite place is in the East Village at The Sock Man. This is honestly a place I plan to go to whenever I'm in NYC because it is that good and I can find really thick boot socks here.
And my last stop before heading back to Harlem to get ready for Saturday night was at The Essex Market to buy cookies at Beurre & Sel. I read about Dorie Greenspan opening a cookie store with her son and was very excited. I've been using her cookbook Baking for a couple of years now to make the best cookies, tarts and cakes so I knew this would be good. I was excited to see Dorie herself manning the counter and she was so sweet. She helped me decide on cookies for JB and then I grabbed one of everything which was the right decision. This is one of my favorite cookie spots in NYC.
I'll check out Beurre & Sel! I was intrigued by their cookies displayed so artfully, and I live right by Essex Market.
